Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 15, 2026  ·  Version 3.1

"We will never sell your data. Ever."

MacKree is a product of Elphi, LLC, a Maryland limited liability company. Until October 2026 the app was called Elphi. Same app, same company, new name.

Supersedes v3.0 (July 28, 2026). What changed in v3.1: the product name; a new section on what appears in notification text; a fuller description of what other family members can see, including the "On it" response and device check-in status in overdue notices; in-app account deletion is now available and the deletion process is described; Apple's push notification service is listed as a processor; a data-breach notification commitment; a clarified age rule; and new contact addresses.

Overview

MacKree ("we," "our," or "the app") is a family coordination app. One person creates a checklist, another person confirms they've done it with one tap — "Got it" — and the people who need to know can see that confirmation.

Our core promises:

Privacy at a Glance

Important Disclaimers

Not a medical device

MacKree is a reminder and checklist application. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. MacKree does not provide medical advice, dosing guidance, or adherence analysis.

While you may choose to use MacKree to remind someone about medications or medical items, it is not a substitute for professional medical guidance, direct caregiver supervision, or emergency services. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical decisions.

No guarantee of delivery

We do not guarantee that any reminder, confirmation, or overdue notice will be delivered, or delivered on time. Delivery depends on things outside our control — device settings, Do Not Disturb and Focus modes, network availability, iOS background limits, and the availability of Apple's and Google's notification infrastructure.

MacKree is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911.

What MacKree Stores on Our Servers

Checklist content is stored on our servers. This is central to how the app works: a checklist you create for someone else has to reach their phone, and their confirmation has to come back to you.

Specifically, we store:

Account information

Family information

Checklist content

Confirmation records

Device information

About checklist and item names specifically

You choose what to type, and we store exactly that. If you name an item after a medication, that medication name is stored on our servers — and it appears in notification text (next section).

We recommend using the least specific description that still works for you and the person you're supporting — "morning meds" rather than a drug name and dose. This is a genuine recommendation, not a disclaimer: less specific content means less sensitive data everywhere it travels.

Please do not enter Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, passwords, or similar information into checklist items.

What Appears in a Notification

Notifications are how MacKree works, so you should know exactly what they say and where that text goes.

The reminder to the person a checklist is assigned to names up to three items ("Morning meds · Water · Lock the door — tap Got it when you've got it"). If the checklist has more items, it says how many more.

An overdue nudge to that same person repeats the item names.

An overdue notice to the organizer and any watchers names the person and the checklist ("No Got it from Mom on Morning Meds. It's been 20 minutes."). It does not list the items.

Notification text is visible on the lock screen of every phone it reaches, to anyone who can see that screen. You can change how much iOS shows on the lock screen in Settings → Notifications → MacKree.

Notification text passes through Apple and Google. To reach a phone, every notification travels through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple's Push Notification service. Both are processors acting on our instructions (see "Third-Party Services"). They are the reason the "least specific description" advice above matters.

What Other People Can See

This is the part most privacy policies bury, so we're putting it up front. MacKree works by sharing information between people, and you should know exactly what is shared.

Only the person a checklist is assigned to can confirm it. Nobody — not even the organizer — can confirm on someone else's behalf.

If you don't want someone to see something, don't put it in a checklist that they can see.

Health-Related Information

MacKree has no health features. We do not connect to Apple Health or HealthKit, we do not ask for health information, and we have no medication, dosage, or adherence fields.

However, you may choose to type health-related information into a checklist item, and some people will — a medication name is a common example. When you do, that text is treated exactly like any other checklist content described above: stored on our servers, shown in notification text, visible to the people you shared the checklist with, and never sold, never used for advertising, and never sent to an analytics or advertising service.

We do not analyze checklist content, infer anything about your health from it, or use it to build any profile.

Some states give extra rights over health-related data. Our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes them; we extend those rights to everyone.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Crash Reports

If the app has a problem, we collect diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics to fix it. This includes device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical details of the failure.

Crash reports never include your checklist names, item names, or notes. This is not a default setting that could change — we do not pass any user-entered content to crash reporting, and we treat that as a fixed constraint on how the app is built.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your information to:

Notifications are for your checklists, not for marketing. We will not send you notifications promoting features, upgrades, or offers unless you explicitly opt in to them inside the app, and you'll always be able to turn them off there.

Text Message Communications

Text messaging is not yet available in MacKree. It is planned as a backup for when a reminder goes unanswered, and this section describes how it will work when it ships.

MacKree's text messages will be strictly opt-in. Each user enables them inside the MacKree iOS app (Settings → Text Message Reminders) by entering their own mobile number and checking a consent box. Consent is never collected on someone else's behalf. See how SMS opt-in works.

If you opt in, MacKree sends reminder and overdue text messages to the number you provide. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for assistance. You can also turn texts off inside the app at any time, which stops all messages immediately.

SMS opt-in consent and phone numbers are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

Data Storage and Security

If we learn of a data breach in which your information is compromised, we will notify affected users by email or in the app without unreasonable delay, and as required by law.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account inside the app (Settings → Delete Account). Here is what happens:

You can also email us at the address below and we will process the deletion for you.
